The idea is simple but very effective (as usual).

The idea is simple but effective — you watch physical actions
on the TV screen (such as ‘stand up’, ‘sit down’, ‘turn round’),
you follow those actions and you repeat the words aloud.
It becomes a physical immersion in your new language, and reproduces the way
that you successfully learned your native language as a child.
Through these first elements you have already created a very substantial vocabulary
in your 'passive' memory. You would recognise the words, but you may be able
to use only a portion of them yet.
Does the phrase “I can understand what you’re saying but I can’t speak”?
Turning that passive vocabulary into active, usable vocabulary is what Free
